Frederic "Fred" A. Mollins, 83, formerly of Moultonborough, and recently Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away from natural causes surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. Fred will be fondly remembered by all who knew him in his journey through life.

Fred built a life serving his country in the U.S. Navy and later by serving his community as a respected member of the town and Moultonborough Fire Department. He had a deep sense of compassion for people and was many times the calming force in their worst moments. He spent 40 plus years on the fire department, eight of which he spent as the chief. During his time with the fire department he inspired many men and women and proudly followed their accomplishments through the years long after he retired.

Fred worked for the telephone company for 40 years and, after he retired, spent his time doing electrical work as a small business for himself, attending to the fire department and focusing on his family, retiring to Florida to enjoy his pool, fishing and friends.

Fred is survived by his wife of 62 years, Vivian “Marie” Mollins; his two children, Ann Lambert and William Mollins and wife Heather Mollins; grandchildren Shawna Loyless and husband Bryan Loyless, Brook Mollins and fiancée Joshua Benton, Shannon Cinco and husband Omar Cinco, Brittany Hilson and Cody Mollins; his great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Bryson; a sister, Dorothy Hudson; his brother’s wife, Marlin Mollins; niece and nephews and their children. Fred is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Dorothy Mollins, and his brother, Frank Mollins.

Following Fred’s wishes there is no funeral services.

Fred’s family would prefer that in lieu of flowers anyone who wants to honor his memory, please make a donation to the Moultonborough Fire Department, P.O. Box 466, Moultonborough NH 03254.
