Fred H. Wells, 73

LACONIA — Fred H. Wells, 73, of 298 Province Street, died Thursday, July 16, 2015 in his home after a long illness, surrounded by his loving friends and family.

He was born on July 30, 1941 in Wolfeboro, the son of the late Fred R. and Dorothea L. Wells. Fred served in the US Navy for 27 years, retiring as a Master Chief in 1985. He also worked for 19 years as a maintenance engineer for Lakes Region Community College and delivered papers for the Laconia Citizen for more than 30 years. Fred was a member of the Laconia VFW Post #1670 and was a Vietnam War veteran. He was an avid Red Sox fan and loved hunting, fishing, gardening and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Fred coached little league baseball in Laconia for a number of years. He was known as a great provider for his family.

He is survived by his son, Fred J. Wells and his wife Lesley of Belmont, two daughters; Heidi Gannon and her husband Sean of Hampton and Heather Wells-Rauls and her husband Patrick of Gilford, his grandchildren; Amber Comellas and her husband Danny, Nicholas and Shae-Bridget Gannon, Ryann and Nathan Wells, McKayla and Gordon-Mclain Masterson, and Emily LaFlam, one sister, Laura Simpson and her husband Bruce of Belmont., nieces, nephews and his caregiver, Ellie Hardy of Belmont. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 38 years, Helen (Hibbard) Wells in 2009 and two sisters; Olive Cyr and Frances Fisher.

Calling hours will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2015 at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, also at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in the family plot at Union Cemetery, Academy St., Laconia.
