Francis S. McHugh

ROCHESTER — Francis S. McHugh of Rochester died on Nov. 6, 2015, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover.

Born in 1928, he was the son of Gertrude (Ralph) and Frank S. McHugh in Wolfeboro. Frank was raised in Meredith where he attended Meredith High School.

Frank went to work for the White Mountain Power Co. after high school.

In 1951 Frank went into the Army and served in Korea. He was discharged during the "police action" in 1953 and returned to Meredith where he met his future wife, Ruth Marvin.

Frank went back to work for the White Mountain Power Co. (which later became New Hampshire Electric Co-Op) and retired after 44 years in 1990.

In retirement Ruth and Frank split their time between Meredith and Northport, Fla. They moved their summer home to Rochester in 2003.

Frank was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Elizabeth Puntanen; and his wife of 59 years, Ruth E. McHugh who died in 2014.

He is survived by his three children, Steven McHugh of Stratham, Christina Michael and her husband Kevin, of Sandwich, and Jennifer Smith and her husband Christopher of Lee; and two grandchildren, Emma and Nick, both of Lee. Frank is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Per his request there will be no services.
