FRANKLIN — Elaine (Gregoire, aka Gregory) Rayno, 88, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, at home surrounded by loving family.
Elaine was born on Jan. 6, 1937, in Franklin, the daughter of Rudolph and Genevieve (Kurowski) Gregoire.
Elaine graduated from Franklin High School, class of 1954. In 1955, she married Richard Rayno, also from Franklin. They were married for over 50 years at the time of his passing in 2006. They lived in their family home, a house that Elaine had saved money from her job to purchase the land, and Richard had used his carpentry talents to build the house himself.
Elaine’s joy in life was time spent with her family. She loved being a mother and spent countless days at Webster Lake and at the Weirs with her children. Sundays in the summer were spent at Wellington State Park in Bristol. She also enjoyed going to York Beach, Maine, with Dick, their children, and their grandchildren.
Known as a loving and devoted great-grandmother, “Babci” made many trips to Massachusetts to visit with Caleb, Ellie and Gavin. She babysat little Oliver whenever needed, and spent most Sundays with visits from little Elaine, her namesake.
Elaine was a former city clerk/tax collector at the City of Franklin from 1978 to 1999. From 1953 to 1964, she was a customer service representative at New England Telephone and Telegraph Company.
The years in between she was a stay-at-home mom. Elaine loved her family with all her heart, and nothing brought her more happiness than time spent with her family. She always included and welcomed Steve and Sharon’s childhood friends and the neighborhood children with open arms and heart into their home.
Elaine is survived by her son, Stephen Rayno of Franklin; her daughter, Sharon Richardson and fiancé Rob Landry of Gilford; her grandchildren, Joel Richardson and fiancée Maryann Reid of North Grafton, Massachusetts, Nicole Palermo and her significant other, Kyler Goss, of Franklin, and Shawn Rayno of Tilton; great-grandchildren Caleb and Ellie Richardson, Gavin Reid, Oliver Rayno and Elaine Palermo.
A graveside service will be held later this summer. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Franklin Fire Rescue or Franklin VNA in memory of Elaine.

To Sharon ,rob,Steve and the rest of the family, my heart goes out to you. I know have to lose in my parents, how hard it was just remember all the great memories and remember them often and she will always feel close to your heart.
🥲 what can I say? She was my second mom. I spent as much time over there growing up as I did my own house. Many great trips to the ocean to weirs beach. Wellington and even to Dairy Queen when we were in kindergarten after she picked us up. Don’t forget skating in the cemetery. Love you MOM. Laura Hoyt LaBranche
