NAPLES, Florida — Edgar Doty McKean, Jr., 87, of Naples, Florida and Pittsburgh, Penn. passed away on July 29, 2007. He was the husband of Suzanne Clouser McKean until her death on December 23, 2003.

Ed was born on March 14, 1920 in Pittsburgh, the son of Edgar Doty McKean and Margaret Scribner McKean. He lived in Pittsburgh most of his life until moving permanently to Naples. He graduated from Edgewood High School in 1938, Staunton Military Academy in 1939 and Penn State in 1943, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.

Ed began his career with the U.S. Steel co., but in 1946 joined the family automotive business in which he worked until his retirement.

He was an avid golfer all his life, as a member of the Royal Poinciana Golf Club in Naples and the Longue Vue Club in Pittsburgh. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a dedicated Penn State football fan.

He is survived by two sons, Ted (Louise) of Gilford, N.H., and Brad (Blair) of Pittsburgh, Penn.; two brothers, John S. McKean of Ponte Vedra, Florida and Frank S. McKean of Castine, Maine; five grandchildren, Milly McPartlin of Concord, N.H., Margot McKean of Kingston, N.H., Meredith Leighty of Englewood, Colorado; Matthew McKean of McKinleyville, Calif., and Fraser Habermeyer of Tampa, Florida; three great-grandchildren, Tucker Patrick McPartlin, Hadley Weston Habermeyer and Catherine Cooper Leighty.

The family plans a private service in Pittsburgh.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Ed's name be made to your favorite charity.
