Constance R. Martin, 84
GILFORD — Constance R. (Heneault) Martin, 84, of Country Club Road, Gilford, passed away Sept. 28, 2015, at the home of her daughter Valerie while under the care of Hospice. She fought a long, hard battle with Alzheimer's over the past eight years, but the love for her children, grandchildren and greatÂ-grandchildren stayed constantly with her.
Connie was born on April 20, 1931, to the late Laurette (Loretta) L. (Blanchette) and Louis O. Heneault. She was born in Central Falls, R.I., and married Roger E. Martin on April 22, 1950 at St. Teresa's Church in Pawtucket, R.I. They were married for a glorious 65 years. They lived in Cumberland, R.I., until moving to Center Harbor in 1976. She more recently resided in Gilford since 2005.
Connie was predeceased by her husband, Roger E. Martin, who died on July 26 of this year.
Surviving are five children, Marsha Cameron and her husband Elliott of Brushton, N.Y., James Martin of Gilford, David and his wife Carlena of Meredith, Valerie Breton and her husband Paul of Belmont, and Alan and his wife Michelle of Allenstown. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren whom Connie loved from the depth of her heart. She was always so very happy to be with them and had a particular love for all children. She is also survived by one cousin, Roger Bombardier of Louisiana.
Her last place of employment was at Adornments in Meredith, which suited her very well with her love of fashion and style.
She was an avid reader and loved quilting, having made many quilts and wall hangings to bestow on her family. She also loved music and dance and was a dance instructor for many years with Arthur Murray Studios. Most of Connie's life though was devoted to raising her children and providing them with a warm and stable home.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Meredith. She made many friends while attending over the past 39 years and these friends always kept in touch during her illness. We are forever grateful to them and her lifelong friendship with Terry and Fred Norman for the comfort they have given to her and our family along with the many other friends our parents gathered along the way.
A memorial service for Connie will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, at Gilford Community Church, 19 Potter Hill Road in Gilford.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to Central NH Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) and Hospice, 780 North Main St., Laconia NH 03246 or www.centralvna.org.
The Mayhew Funeral Home and Crematorium, in Meredith and Plymouth, is assisting the family with their arrangements. To sign Connie's Book of Memories go to; www.mayhewfuneralhomes.com
