BOSCAWEN — Carolyn Ann Hilson, 70, passed away peacefully on Nov. 25, 2025, at the Harris Hill Center in Concord, surrounded by her family.
Born on May 7, 1955, in Laconia, she was the daughter of George and Beverly (Bunnell) Smith. She grew up in Laconia, where she attended school locally and graduated from Laconia High School in 1975. During her high school years, she met the love of her life, Brian Keith Hilson. The couple married on June 9, 1979, in Homestead, Florida, and looked forward to building the family that became the center of their lives.
Known for her kindness and grounded presence, Carolyn devoted much of her life to caring for others. Above all things, family was especially important. She approached the holidays with dedication, filling them with traditional family recipes and handcrafted crochet gifts. Even during times of struggle, her home remained warm and welcoming. She often placed the needs of others before her own, caring for family and friends, but especially when supporting elderly family members through difficult times. Her quiet strength and generosity touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her sister Gail, parents and her husband Brian. She is survived by her sons; Derek Hilson and his wife Carrington, Clark Hilson and his fiancée Christian, Brandon Hilson, Alexander Hilson and his wife Michelle; daughter Felicia MacRobert and her husband Joseph; bonus son Lonnie Johnson; grandchildren Landon, Kessler, Knox, Corwin, Alauna, and JJ; siblings George (Scott) Smith Jr. and his wife Arlene, Carl Smith, Cheryl McNeil and her husband Charles, Linda Ellsworth, Randy Smith, Vicki Smith and her partner Lee, Donald Smith and his wife Jen, June Nugent and her husband Dave; aunts Betty Butler and Raelene Gamblin; godmother Brenda Osgood; her dearest friends Cathy Frost, Lori Hillegass, Gayle Jones; and a host of other relatives and friends.
