WINNISQUAM — Carol P. (Grant) Lucas, 88, formerly of Laconia Rd., Winnisquam, died early Wednesday morning, January 26, 2005, at the Den Mar Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, in Rockport, Mass. She was born February 23, 1916, in Gloucester, Mass., the daughter of the late Allen F. and Carol (Brown) Grant. Her father was the first City Clerk of the City of Gloucester. She was educated in the Gloucester (MA) School System.

Carol was employed for many years with the Red Cross stationed in Deaconess Hospital in Boston, Mass.

She was a long time resident of Winnisquam before moving to Rockport, Mass. in 1994.

She was a former member of the White Shrine of Jersusalem and the Order of the Amaranths.

Mrs. Lucas was the widow of the late Clifford R. Lucas, who died in 1990. She is survived by a sister, Dorothy L. Grant of Gloucester, Mass.; nephews, David Smith and Grant Smith, both of Gloucester, Mass.; nieces, Linda Marquis of Hudson and Susan Brancaleone of Gloucester, Mass.; and several great nieces and great nephews. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Allen F. Grant Jr. of Saugus, Mass., who died in 2003; and by a sister, Priscilla A. Shackelford of Gloucester, Mass., who died in 2002.

There are no calling hours. Burial services will be announced later in the spring with burial in Seaside Cemetery, Gloucester,MA.
