Carol A. Tilton

Carol A. Tilton

VERO BEACH, Fla. — Carol Anne Tilton, 65, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 26, 2025, at her seasonal residence in Meredith, New Hampshire.

Carol was born on Jan. 3, 1960, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late Robert E. Carter and Betty L. (Colbert) Carter. She grew up in Vienna, Virginia, and received a bachelor of science degree in speech pathology at James Madison University in 1982. After marrying her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Michael, Carol raised her family and lived in northern Virginia, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Florida. She invested in other women by leading Bible studies, was passionate about all Boston professional sports teams, enjoyed spending time with family and her broad set of friends, and tolerated Michael’s sometimes questionable sense of humor, which kept Carol smiling during all phases of her life journey. She was the epitome of kindness and grace, which she got naturally from her mom. Carol was incredibly proud of her kids and adored her five grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.

Carol is survived by her husband Michael Tilton, of Vero Beach, son Bryan W. Tilton (Erin) of Raleigh, North Carolina, daughters Jessica L. Blanton (Jon) of Austin, Texas, and Michelle M. Secord (Hunter) of Moultonborough, NH, and five grandchildren, Brody Tilton, Lainey Tilton, Tyler Blanton, Elliot Blanton, and Caden Secord. She also leaves her brother Robert Carter (Kim) of Madison, Virginia, sisters Roberta Carow of Mount Airy, Maryland, and Robin McAllister of Woodbridge, Virginia, and many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, at National Funeral Home, Falls Church, Virginia.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, also at National Funeral Home.

Her family will lay her to rest at National Memorial Park, Falls Church, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Carol’s favorite charity, Compassion International.
