It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Brooks Elliott Young Jr. on Nov. 8, 2024, at the age of 42.

Brooks was born on May 10, 1982, in Concord, to Kacey Cochrane and Brooks Young Sr. He went through the Concord school system and graduated in 2001. When he was a child, he was introduced to music by his grandfather, Phillip Cochrane, which marked the beginning of his successful music career.

Throughout his career, Brooks performed with legendary artists such as B.B. King, Sammy Hagar & The Circle, George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Los Lobos, Robert Cray, Pat Benatar, Huey Lewis & The News, The Wallflowers, Three Dog Night, and many others.

Brooks is survived by his mother, Kacey Cochrane, and her partner, Will Morel; his father, Brooks Sr., and his stepmother, Jane Young; his former partner, Shannon Allen, and their daughters, Layla and Izabelle Young; his ex-wife, Andrea Young, and their son, Carter; his sister, Lauryn Cochrane; his sister, Brittany Maltais, and her husband, Matt, and their children, Easton and Oaklyn; and his brother, Porter, and his wife, Meagan Young. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Phillip and Sylvia Cochrane; his uncle, Wayne Cochrane; and his paternal grandparents, Elaine Elliott-Snyder and Porter Young.

A wake will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, at Smart Memorial Home, 584 W. Main St., Tilton, smartmemorialhome.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to an account that will be set up for his children.
