MEREDITH — Bertha E. Beach, 89, passed away on Jan. 5, 2018, at Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth, following a short illness.
Bertha was born on June 8, 1928, in Alexandria, the daughter of Alfred and Ednah (Bean) Dow. She grew up in Bristol, and after school, she married her husband of 59 years, Richard Beach. They had three children. She worked at E.M. Heath’s Supermarket and October Farm for a combined total of 35 years before retiring.
Bertha enjoyed spending time with her family, camping and baking cookies for the motorcyclists during bike week.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Pearson (Bill) of Vero Beach, Florida, and Brenda Thibeault (Bob) of Meredith; three grandchildren, Tonya Matthews and her husband, David, of Brentwood, Tennessee; Timothy Pearson and his wife, Dana, of Indian Trail, North Carolina; and Michael Thibeault of Meredith; five great-grandchildren: Susannah Matthews, Charlotte Matthews, Virginia Matthews, Aunika Pearson and Ari Pearson; and many nieces and nephews.
Bertha was predeceased by her parents; two brothers and one sister; her husband; a son, Norman Beach; and a grandson, Scott Thibeault.
Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Contributions can be made to a charity of one’s choice in Bertha’s memory.
The Mayhew Funeral Home and Meredith Bay Crematorium are assisting the family with arrangements.
