GROTON — Arthur R. Elder, 79, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024, after a period of declining health. Born in Lyme, NH, to Roger and Loretta (Nareau) Elder. At a young age, the family moved to Bristol, NH, where Art has been a long-time resident. He graduated from Bristol High School in 1964 and went on to work in several industries before finding his niche as a service technician in the heating industry. He began with the former Carr Co., which later became Dead River Co. He then went on his own, operating A & M Installation and Heating.
Arthur’s passion was circle track and mud racing of cars and trucks. He was often referred to as “The Mayor” wherever they raced. He also loved to play Texas Hold’em poker and earned a spot in the World Poker Tournament.
He is survived by one daughter, Tracey (Jeff) Clarenbach, of Moultonborough, NH; two sons, Jeremy (Melissa) Elder, of Groton, NH, and Ben (Erin) Elder of Danbury; seven grandchildren, Jesse Davis, Brittney Davis, Miles Clarenbach, Parker Clarenbach, Andrew Elder, Anthony Gromko, Brianna Gromko, Kaila Breen; one sister Maxine Bourbeau of Bristol, NH; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 26 from 6-8 p.m. in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette/Emmons Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, NH.
