BRISTOL — Arthur "Dr. Lorax" Charles Costonis, Ph.D., 91, of Pemigewasset Shores Drive, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sept. 12, 2025.
Arthur was born on July 10, 1934, in Winthrop, Massachusetts, the son of Arthur and Sylvia (Bonnaccorso) Costonis.
He was a man of many hobbies. He enjoyed fly fishing, painting, and was an award winning wood carver. He kept the gardens at his house beautiful and was known to regularly make bouquets for his wife. He was passionate about dendrology and arboriculture, and shared his wealth of knowledge with those he loved.
Arthur is survived by his beloved wife Madeline (Ward) Costonis; children Arthur Costonis Jr. and his wife Sandra, Marcus Costonis, Lizbeth Wood, Patricia Sebilion, Anthony Verduga and Shayna McKay; many grandchildren and many siblings. In addition to his parents, Arthur is predeceased by many siblings.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia.
