LACONIA — Winemaker Kenny Likitprakong of California will be in attendance at a Wine and Tapas Pairing Dinner at Tavern 27 on Saturday, March 23, sharing his organic and bio-dynamically produced wines. Proceeds from the dinner and a raffle will benefit the UNH Cooperative Extension 2019 Free Seed Program.
The evening will include a meet and greet from 6:30-7 p.m., with dinner service beginning at 7 p.m. The dinner is a six-course pairing featuring wines from Likitprakong’s lines including Hobo, Banyan, Camp, Folk Machine and Ghostwriter to be paired with organic and locally sourced tapas by Tavern 27. Accommodations will be made for dietary preferences such as gluten free, vegetarian and vegan with advance purchase of tickets.
“We have had Kenny’s wines on our list for years. This is our second wine dinner with him and his family. He is such a delight, humble and unique to his winemaking approach,” staid Chef Leslie Judice, chef and co-owner of Tavern 27. “I love his wines because they are accessible, consistent, they are great food wines, and they are just delicious.” She first gained interest in his wines because of his sustainability, bio-dynamic and organic practices in his production, which aligns with the food philosophy of the restaurant.
“The possibility for wine to create community, to be history, to tell a story, and to transcend time and place is what enchants, captivates, and inspires me,” Likitprakong said.
A portion of the evening will benefit the UNH Cooperative Extension 2019 Free Seed Program which provides free vegetable, flower and herb seed packets to New Hampshire-based schools, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts troops, 4-H clubs, community gardens and other education-based or youth groups. “We support this effort because we feel it is important for the next generation to understand where their food comes from, how to be self-sufficient, responsible and sustainable,” commented Judice. The evening will also feature an in-house raffle with items donated from Tavern 27, Circa Wines, and LuLu’s Wine and Cheese.
The event will take place at Tavern 27, 2075 Parade Road, on Saturday, March 23, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Reservations are required and can be purchased by visiting tavern27.com, or by calling 603-528-3057.
