MEREDITH — Join local shark conservationist Thalassa Silver at the Meredith Public Library on Saturday, Aug. 8 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for a fun, informative, and interactive talk about local shark species. She will discuss fun facts about sharks, conservation awareness, and how healthy shark populations make an important environmental impact.Â
Attendees will get to see real shark teeth and identify what type of sharks they came from. They will also get to take a home a shark tooth as a souvenir.
While people can't take these home, there will be a range of Megalodon teeth for adults and kids to examine, from fragments to a 5-plus inch fully complete Megalodon tooth. That is one tooth from a massive pre-historic creature that had 276 such teeth and, scientists say, grew up to 78 feet long and weighed up to 200,000 pounds.
