MEREDITH — The Interlakes Summer Theatre is continuing its 18th season with American satirical romantic comedy “Tootsie: The Musical,” which runs through July 27.
“Tootsie” is a film directed by Sydney Pollack from a screenplay by Larry Gelbart and Murray Schisgal and a story by Gelbart and Don McGuire. It stars Dustin Hoffman, Jessica Lange, Teri Garr, Dabney Coleman, and Charles Durning.
In the film, Michael Dorsey (Hoffman), a talented actor with a reputation for being professionally difficult, runs into romantic trouble after adopting a female persona to land a job. This musical comedy version plays like a sitcom and features Michael Stoddard as Michael Dorsey.
The production will be directed by Lawrence Lesher and choreographed by Gustavo Wons, with musical direction by Tommy Iafrate. Set designer is Mihai Ciupe, costume design by Thomas Gludenis, lighting design by David Casteneda, and prop design by Bee LaClair.
Claude Wei Zhang is technical director with Will Farris as stage manager, Kristen Wettstein as production manager, Ginny Fisher as costume shop manager, Camille Deering as assistant stage manager and Paris Bate as costume shop technician.
“Tootsie: The Musical” is open with shows through July 27. Next up will be “Menopause, The Musical” running Aug. 13-17.
