Susan Comte, of the Root Seller farm, in Nottingham, brings maple syrup, potatoes and dried beans to the Gilford Farmer's Market.
How did you become interested in the farming business?
Well, our family had acquired a farm in Nottingham, New Hampshire, and we have been farming ever since! We want to provide fresh, local food for the community.
Where do you hope to see your business in 2020?
While we want to keep our potatoes and maple syrup production around the same by 2020, we want to expand our bean farming from 2 acres, to 10. Once people try our beans, they come back for more!
What is your favorite part of the day?
My favorite part about farming is the marketing end of the job. I love to find different ways to get our product out to the community.
What is your favorite part of the farmer's markets?
My favorite part of the farmer's markets has to be the different people and customers. They are why we keep coming back to the markets!
