WOLFEBORO — For their 90th anniversary season, Wolfeboro Friends of Music presents A Band Called Honalee, a modern-day folk trio inspired by the music of Peter, Paul and Mary.

They will perform on Sunday, May 17, at 4 p.m. at Brewster Academy's Anderson Hall.

Musically accomplished, interactive and energetic, their shows allow audiences to experience this timeless music live onstage. Satisfying diehard Peter, Paul & Mary lovers, as well as newcomers to this wonderful era of music, the band’s shows feature all of PPM’s beloved hits, including “Leaving on a Jet Plane,” “Blowing in the Wind,” and of course “Puff The Magic Dragon.” With virtuosic musicianship, stirring vocal harmonies and polished showmanship, A Band Called Honalee also offers favorites from Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, and many others.

Founded in 2011 by producer and Music Director Aaron Gandy, the group believes the melodies and messages of the 1960s folk and folk-rock era are just as relevant today as they were when they were first composed, perhaps even more so. Their mission is to share this uniquely American music with new audiences, while rekindling the passion of life-long fans. Most of all, they celebrate the power of music to inspire people and bring them together once again.

The Wolfeboro Friends of Music shares a 90-year commitment to important traditions in American music. After all, acoustic folk from the 1960s is a uniquely American form.

This is the eighth of nine concert performances comprising the current WFOM season running through June.
