The Winnipesaukee Wellness Center Golf Classic held Sept. 16 at Waukewan Golf Club was a great success with the support of more than 50 businesses and individuals and 108 golfers, raising more than $10,000.
The golf tournament is the major annual fund raiser for Winnipesaukee Wellness Center, a self-funded department of LRGHealthcare serving more than 160 participants from the northern Lakes Region.
Golfers of all ages competed in two divisions based on handicaps with winners taking home a $400 team prize. Division 1 winners were Vynnie Hale, Jim Currier, Torrie Whitcher, and Cindy Whitcher. Division 2 winners were Steve Lawton, Randy Lawton, Bob Lawton, and Chris Ferguson. Numerous other golf prizes went to second and third place teams, closest to the pin on all par 3's, longest drive, putting contest, Vegas hole, and the green challenge on hole 16. No one made a hole-in-one to win the Ford Explorer from Meredith Ford; Bill Crabtree came closest to the pin on hole 11.
Major sponsors were Meredith Village Savings Bank; Canoe Restaurant and Tavern (barbecue dinner); the Hale Family (use of Waukewan Golf Club); Meredith Ford (offered Ford Explorer as hole-in-one prize); and E.M. Heath (lunch).
