Kara Kinsey, a Laconia native who currently lives in Brooklyn and works as a graphic designer, will be a contestant in the “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” hot seat on program to be broadcast on Friday, Oct. 23. Hosted by the Emmy Award-winning Meredith Vieira, Millionaire can be seen locally in the Manchester area on WMUR-Channel 9 at 12:30 p.m.

Kinsey is a 1998 graduate of Laconia High School and is the daughter of Jon and Sally Koning, of Belmont. Both of Kara’s parents came to NYC with her and sat in the Millionaire audience as her on-air companions when the show was video taped. She is married to her husband Andy and have a 1 1/2-year-old daughter, Clementine.

Kinsey loves being a new mom and says that each morning, she and her daughter turn up the music and have a dance party in their living room. She was a back-up singer in a Nirvana cover band for four years. She and her husband currently have a band called “Eyes of Mars.” Kara plays keyboards in the band and they practice in their living room after Clementine goes to bed.
