There are many reasons to be sure to come to the Glad Tiding Christmas Fair on Saturday, November 14 at the First United Methodist Church in Gilford. Beginning at 9 a.m., the church will be so filled with a wide array of items from one end to the other that it will be hard not to catch a holiday spirit.
Of course there will be an opportunity to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus and this will be a great setting to take photos while children tell their wishes to the jolly couple. And one of the best things about the fair is that there will be so many reasonably priced choices. There will be toys, gifts, crafts, baked goods, jewelry, books, antiques and collectibles, Christmas items and a flea market. The toys range from new to gently used, and jewelry ranges from some lovely pieces to those that will be great dress-up treasures for a little girl. Crafts? Many choices will be found including quilts, knitted items and some wonderful hand painted note cards.
The Attic Treasures tables offer antiques and collectibles that might begin a collection or provide a unique gift. There will be plants and Christmas decorations to brighten your home. The book sale is always a popular stop for many of the fairgoers, but perhaps not quite as popular as the baked goods tables and the cookie walk where it is possible to get a jump on holiday baking. If nothing has caught the fancy of an attendee yet, there will be a flea market room where just what you need might be found.
This year the fair will not only offer items for sale, but some will leave with more cash than they came with. That is because the Golden Girls will be set up to buy gold on the spot. Gold buying will take place through the fair hours 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
If all the shopping makes attendees hungry, there surely will be something to satisfy that hunger at the snack bar beginning with coffee and donuts and culminating with the famous corn chowder at lunchtime.
The Church is located on Route 11A in Gilford, just beyond the Laconia Bypass.
