Three siblings who all married within three months of each other in the spring of 1946, and their spouses, celebrated 60th wedding anniversaries together in New Jersey earlier this month. Included in the grand celebration were Oley and Lulu Wanaselja of Pleasant Street, Laconia.
Fifty of the three couples' children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren gathered for the once-in-a-lifetime event hosted by the Wanaselja's daughter, Linda Sue Wanaselja. Included was 88-year-old Selma Wanaselja Miller, an older sister to the three siblings married in 1946.
Fleeing from the Russians, Louis, Oley and Laine Wanaselja came to the United States with their parents from Estonia in 1916. They made their home on Staten Island, where all their children were born.
Louis, Oley and Laine's husband Arthur Ward all served in World War II. Louis and Oley were in the U.S. Navy and Arthur was in the Merchant Marines.
Today, Louis and Peggy Wanaselja live in New Jersey and Arthur and Laine Ward live in Florida.
