HOLDERNESS — This Saturday, August 2nd the Squam Lakes Association is celebrating all things Squam with the second annual I Love Squam Day. Starting at noon and running until 3 pm there will be canoe, kayak, and Paddleboard demos, snorkeling excursions, sailboat exhibits, and local hikes exploring bird life, forest ecology, and woodland stewardship.
At 2:30 there's a special event just for the kids. The Squam Olympics is back and better than ever. All kids between 8 and 16 years old are challenged to compete in a variety of watery sports including a big canoe race to field games and of course...the Ultimate Squam Challenge.
Starting at 5 is the big cookout complete with all the classic summer time eats off the grill. Then when the sun goes down it's time for the barn dance. This Contra style dance is complete with that good ol' country sound, caller and a big beautiful barn. All activities except for dinner and the barn dance are free. Reservations are required for dinner. Go online to squamlakes.org for more information or call 603-968-7336.
