Meredith Village Savings Bank will provide scholarships for adults who want to complete their high school education at Laconia Academy’s evening high school diploma program.
The scholarships will also be available to adults who want to attend GED Preparation classes or take the GED exam.
Eligible town are Alton, Center Harbor, Moultonborough, Meredith, Gilford, Laconia, Ashland, Sandwich, Holderness and New Hampton.
“We are so thankful that Meredith Village Savings Bank has reached out to support our adult learners,” said Margaret K. Selig, director of Laconia School District’s Department of Continuing Education. “One out of four adults in New Hampshire does not have a high school diploma. For many low-income individuals, the cost of registration and books prevents them from taking classes to complete their education.”
Students attending Laconia Academy can earn high school diploma credits in several different ways. Credit is given for previous high school credits earned and life experiences such as military service, work experience, apprenticeship training, correspondence courses, certificate programs and homemaking. For more information about the scholarship, call Laconia Adult Education at 524-5712.
