The Meredith Area Chamber of Commerce will celebrate National Tourism Week from May 13-21. During this week members of the business community and the public are invited to stop by the Chamber office at 272 Daniel Webster Highway, visit with the staff, and view the wide array of New Hampshire tourist information available. Travel and Tourism is the second largest industry in New Hampshire and recent figures indicate that over 15-percent of the rooms and means tax revenue is distributed back to local municipalities. These funds directly support local businesses and jobs for area residents.
In recognition of National Tourism Week, Susan Cerutti, executive director of the Meredith Area Chamber of Commerce, reports that the local Chamber will provide its membership with copies of the “Customer Bill of Rights.” The premise of the Bill of Rights is that the visitor is not a customer or a tourist, but a guest. The information contained on these cards assist business owners and their employees with the all important issues of customer service. Surveys compiled by the Chamber indicate that visitors are first attracted to the area because of the lakes and mountains but what makes them return is the friendliness of the people and the service they receive while they are here. Cerutti further states that small businesses face a great deal of competition, and one advantage they have is the service they provide to their customers. She stated that by incorporating
the principles of the Customer Bill of Rights, businesses can increase customer loyalty. To receive more information about National Tourism Week, the Customer Bill of Rights, or the Chamber’s marketing plan, contact the Chamber office at 279-6121.
