The Franklin Business and Industrial Development Corporation (FBIDC) will be hosting a "Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House" at the newly built Webster Industrial Building in the Franklin Industrial Park. The red carpet welcome to three new Industrial Park businesses will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2003 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.

This project is a result of a joint venture between FBIDC and Franklin Developments, Inc., who formed a limited liability corporation. Knowing that small business is vital to the growth and development of the City, this holding company enabled the project to come to fruition.

The result is a multi-tenant building that will lease space to three Franklin businesses. All three businesses had been looking to relocate outside of the area. McBey Machine Co., Eaton Woodworking and Charles Non-Ferrous Castings will each lease one-third of the building.

McBey Machine is a family-run business manufacturing high-end machining work. Eaton Woodworking specializes in the milling of architecturally designed windows and doors, using exotic woods such as mahogany and teak. Charles Casting is a firm specializing in foundry work using the lost wax method for castings in yellow brass and bronze. Several years ago, the firm made door knobs for the White House.

General contractor for the project was Construx Inc. of Plymouth with George Aubin as project manager. Rick Lepene of Lepene Engineering completed the engineering and survey work. R. D. Edmunds and Sons performed the site work. The project was financed by Franklin Savings Bank.

The public is welcome to walk the red carpet at the event to find out more about the project, the Franklin businesses and the FBIDC. For more information or to RSVP, call Denise Sharlow at the FBIDC at 934-5508.
