HOLDERNESS — The Squam Lakes Association's newly established AmeriCorps program, the Lakes Region Conservation Corps, is joining forces with other AmeriCorps programs across the state, as well as the Corporation for National and Community Service, in an effort to collect items for the New Hampshire Food Bank in honor of Martin Luther King Day next week.
In 2016, the NH Food Bank distributed 12.7 million pounds of non-perishable food items, fresh produce, and meats to more than 400 non-profit food agencies in all corners of NH. This year, their most needed items include canned chicken, canned tuna, peanut butter, jelly, mac n cheese, canned soup, pasta, noodle mixes, and rice mixes. Please help us collect food to feed New Hampshire's hungry!
Nonperishable food items can be dropped off at the Squam Lakes Association from Jan. 8 to 14 at the SLA headquarters located at 534 U.S. Route 3 in Holderness. On Jan. 15, LRCC AmeriCorps members will deliver the collected food items to the NH Food Bank as part of their MLK Day Service event in Manchester.
