LACONIA — Lakes Region Child Care has received a $40,000 grant from Granite United Way's local volunteer-led Community Impact Committee.
The grant will support the expansion of the organization's programming for infants and toddlers in our community. Over the past two years, Lakes Region Child Care has experienced a significant increase in the demand for the care and education of very young children, and has worked hard to meet this demand with an internal shift to more infant and toddler classrooms, the addition of an infant-only center, and more teacher training specific to this age group.
"Increasing the number of infants and toddlers served by LRCCS increases the number of early screenings collected, number of referrals for early support services, and the number of very young children who receive consistent and targeted curriculum to build skills," said Marti Ilg, executive director of Lakes Region Child Care.
Granite United Way's community investments are determined by a dedicated team of local volunteers who review each application. The organization focuses its investments in the impact areas of Education, Income and Health with the overall mission to improve the quality of people's lives by bringing together the caring power of communities.
"Granite United Way is proud to partner with Lakes Region Child Care in our shared goal of improving lives through our community," said Patrick Tufts, President and CEO of Granite United Way. "Our teams of local volunteers dedicated hundreds of hours to review process and we are confident that their decision to invest in Lakes Region Child Care will bring measurable results we can be proud of."
