Jeri Bothamley will be the featured artist in the Busiel Community Room and Gallery in downtown Laconia from February 29 though April 2. An opening will be held on Sunday, February 28 from 3 to 6 p.m. Friends and the public are invited to attend, view the paintings and celebrate the hanging of these recent works.
Bothamley paints the beauty of the Lakes Region, but travels to other venues to work on landscapes and costal scenes en plain air. In her studio, she creates impressionistic paintings of flowers from her garden, of still life arrangements, and finishes pieces begun outside. Her inspirations are the interaction of color with light, and the impact that it has on the way one views the world.
Bothamley pursued formal arts training at Michigan State University, attending graduate classes there and at the University of Connecticut. After teaching art, her focus moved to full time art practice. In the Northeast, her murals in oil appear in over a thousand private residences. Other venues over the years have included restaurants — Black Eyed Sally's, Pasties French Restaurant, and Hot Tomatoes — as well as public buildings such as Glastonbury Audubon Center, First Church of Christ in Hartford and Longmeadow Library, MA. Ten years ago, Jeri began coming back to N.H. and transitioning from murals to oils on canvas. More recently, she has studied with John C. Traynor of southern NH and Colin Page of costal Maine.
A Laconia resident, Bothamley she is involved in the Artist's Loft, Laconia Art League and the Laconia Design Collaborative.
The Busiel Mill Community Room and Gallery is located on the bottom floor of the Busiel Mill, and is “just about eye level with the Winnipesaukee River that flows only inches away from the gallery windows,” says Busiel Mill Manager, Joe Adrignola. “We have a charming space here that we are pleased to offer to artists and share with the community.”
The Busiel Mill Community Room and Gallery is open to visitors from 9-5 p.m. on weekdays and other times by appointment. Artists interested in displaying their work in this gallery should contact Joe Adrignola at 527-9176.
