MEREDITH — Innisfree Bookshop will be hosting a free author event from 2-4 p.m., during the holiday open house on Sunday, December 7 at the Mill Falls Marketplace.
In The Islands of Winnipesaukee, authors Ron Guilmette and Jay Leccese, both accomplished kayakers, cataloged 275 beautiful color photographs with impressions of the sights and kayaking adventures to all 253 islands on the lake.
The authors used the Leccese's family camp on Cow Island as a base from 2011-2013. Their photographic kayaking voyages around the islands of lake Winnipesaukee led to the creation of a unique book that will serve as a source of fond remembrance.
Guilmette started renting kayaks at age ten for 25 cents an hour on the Shawsheen River in Andover, Massachusetts. He continues to ocean kayak with his children off of Salisbury Beach, Massachusetts where he has lived for the past 42 years. He enjoys white water rafting and golf and most of all beach days with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Jay Leccese was born and raised in Stoneham, Massachusetts. His family has owned a summer residence on Lake Winnipesaukee since 1989, and he considers the lake to be a second home. He first began kayaking there as a teenager with his family, setting out on short paddles from their camp on Cow island. He continues kayaking during the summer months, especially enjoying trips in the early morning or evening when the lake is calm and the sun glows on the water.
