The Architectural Studio, LLC of Grantham, NH has been chosen as the architectural firm to design the new library in Gilford. Area residents will recognize several of their projects, notably and recently, Church Landing in Meredith and the Lake Opechee Inn and Spa in Laconia. Other projects include Lagos Restaurant, The Chase House and Mill Falls, also in Meredith.

After reviewing early stage plans today, Bill Seed, chairman of the new library building committee, said, “I think it’s going to be an extremely handsome building that really fits the look and feel of Gilford Village.” Seed also added, “I’d like to remind Gilford residents that this fantastic new library is being completely funded by private donations — no public funds are being sought.”

Gilford taxpayers will still need to vote to authorize the Selectment to accept the new library as a gift by voting in favor of a warrant article. The warrant article reads as follows: To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to accept the donation from the Friends of the Gilford Library, a non-profit corporation, by deed, of land and buildings to house a new Gilford Public Library, provided that the building has been substantially completed and a certificate of occupancy has been issued prior to conveyance.
