The Gilford Community Band (GCB) will begin preparing for it's 27th season of performances on Tuesday, May 18. The band performs every other Wednesday evening on the "Weeks Bandstand" in Gilford Village begining in July. In addition, the band takes part in the Old Home Day celebration by performing on the band float in the parade and offers a concert prior to the fireworks display in the evening. The GCB also offers a very popular Christmas Concert at the Gilford High School Performing Arts Center Auditorium in December. John Beyrent, Director of the Gilford High School Band, will once again direct the GCB.
The Gilford Community Band featured approximately 60 members last year and is looking forward to another good full group this year. New members are always welcome. There are no age limits. John Beyrent anticipates a real need for low brass musicians to include trombone, euphonium and tuba players and all musicians are welcome. Rehearsals will be held every Tuesday evening 7 to 9 p.m. starting on May 18 at the Gilford Middle School Band Room.
For additional information, contact John Beyrent at 524-0807/kv361@hotmail.com or Don Chesebrough at 524-9054/chese1@metrocast.net. Don has managed the band since it's inception 27 years ago.
