SANBORNTON — Maggie Stier of the N.H. Preservation Alliance will deliver a lecture about "Who's taking care of your town's history?" on Thursday, April 14 at 7 p.m. at the Public Library. The subtitle of her talk will be, "Preservation tools and strategies for the 21st Century."
The Sanbornton Historical Society is the program sponsor. Stier's talk will be the first of its six monthly programs in 2016. All are held on the second Thursday of each month, from April to September. For further information call 286-4526 or check "info@lanetavern.org".
Bringing more than 30 years experience in the fields of historic preservation, museums and education, Stier travels the state for the Alliance, working to encourage people engaged in preservation projects. The NHPA concentrates on helping those who wish to preserve New Hampshire's "built environment."
In 2014-15 the Sanbornton Historical Society received a matching LCHIP grant via the Preservation Alliance to repair and paint the outside of the Lane Tavern, an early 19th Century building on Route 132 in Sanbornton Square. The Lane Tavern was sold to the local historical society in 1965. In recent years an outside ramp and inside stair lift has been added for handicap accessibility as a result of Society fundraising.
Sanbornton Historical Society programs are open and free to the public. Refreshments will be provided after the program.
