CENTER HARBOR — Bayswater Bookstore will host best-selling author, Barbara Delinsky, on Saturday, July 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. as she signs her recently released book, "Blueprints."
Delinsky has written more than 21 best-selling novels, including "Sweet Salt Air" (2013), "Escape" (2011), and "Not My Daughter" (2010). With more than 30 million copies in print, her books have been published in 20 languages worldwide.
Delinsky's fiction centers upon everyday families facing no-so-everyday challenges. She is particularly drawn to exploring themes of motherhood, marriage, sibling rivalry, and friendship in her novels.
"Blueprints" tells the story of Caroline and Jamie, mother and daughter. Who am I, both women ask, as the blueprints they've built their lives around suddenly need revising. While loyalties shift, decisions hover and new relationships tempt, their challenge comes not only in remaking themselves, but in rebuilding their relationship with each other.
The themes found in Blueprints have many connections to every-day challenges in real life, says Delinsky, such as the folly of making rigid life plans. "Too often I've seen instances where we have an idea of what we want to be, where we want to go, and with whom – before life steps in the way, throws something at us that is beyond our control, and changes everything," she said.
Those unable to make the Saturday, July 18, event can special-order signed copies of the book by calling 253-8858.
