Two local companies have teamed to decorate two fundraising events here in the Lakes Region. Belknap Landscape Company, Inc. of Gilford and the company’s plant supplier, Appletree Nursery of Winnisquam, will provide live flowering plants to add spring fragrance to the Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce 'Mix & Mingle on Thursday, May 27 and the Saturday, May 29 'May in Bloom's' big band dance in downtown Laconia.

Belknap Landscape contacted Appletree’s owner, David Rotonelli to borrow some plants for decoration and buy others to raffle off for the benefit of the charities. “We were happy to supply these plants to our good customer and to the benefit of these charities”, said Rotonelli, adding, “Appletree staffers will pull the plant selections from our extensive inventories and stage them for Belknap’s pick up and delivery to each event.”

The flowering plants will be on display on the M/S Mount Washington dockside at Weirs Beach during the Chamber's Mix & Mingle event. Hatches open at 5:30 and the festivities will begin at 6.

According to Belknap Landscape Owner Hayden McLaughlin, “This is going to be a terrific opportunity to be part of a Weirs beach historical event and have an enjoyable evening on the M/S Mount Washington. These gorgeous plants will add a festive mood and that the plant raffles generate helpful funds for Chamber operations.”

The Saturday event will be at the former Bloom's Variety store location in downtown Laconia. The building will be transformed into a retro nightclub for the dance. Belknap Landscape will collect the decorating plants from the M/S Mount Washington and set them up for this unique event. Proceeds benefit the Laconia Main Street and the Belknap Mill Association, both focused on Laconia downtown development. “May in Bloom’s” is black tie optional, the Lakes Region Big Band will provide music for dancing and local restaurants will provide hours devours and delicious desserts. Tickets for this event are $45.00, available for purchase at the Belknap Mill.
