Laconia Public Library has chosen "The Arrival" by Shaun Tan as its 5th annual One City, One Book selection. You can sign out a copy of "The Arrival" at the adult circulation desk at the Library.
What is One City, One Book? It was designed to bring the community together through a common reading experience and on Tuesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. in Laconia Rotary Hall, Umija Gusinac will share what life was like when she and her husband came to Laconia as refugees in 2000.
The Gusinacs fled war-torn Bosnia in 1992, abandoning their home in the middle of the night. Since their arrival, they have been active and dedicated members of the Lakes Region community. Umija volunteers for several organizations throughout the Lakes Region, and serves on numerous communities for area agencies and civic groups.
This program is free and open to the public. For more information, call 524-4775 x 15.
