Fine art biker photography of Matthew, Dayna Linton on display June 10-18

A new exhibit of fine art biker photography by Matthew and Dayna Linton will be featured at the Historic Belknap Mill as part of Laconia Motorcycle Week, June 10-18. A reception for the public to meet the photographers is Sunday, June 11, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Matthew and Dayna Linton's exhibition, American Bikers: Views from the Sissy Bar, encompass three years of motorcycle and lifestyle photography. Matthew Linton focuses on the motorcycle as object in his Polaroid images that run the gamut from representational to abstract. He and Dayna Linton also turn their eyes to the motorcycling subculture. Armed with a high-end digital camera, they capture the essence of the motorcycle lifestyle.

The Lintons have exhibited their photographs across the United States. Their biker art has been picked up by Advanced Media Technologies and Sony Corporation to broadcast programming all over Europe. The company, based in Monte Carlo, will be showing their images on high-definition flat screen TVs in public venues this year. Their website, www.ArtBiker.com, appeared in V-Twin Magazine last January. Matthew Linton has just published a portion of his images in the International Journal of Motorcycle Studies.

For this exhibit, the art gallery will be open daily, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The reception on Sunday coincides with the vintage road race in downtown Laconia. People can arrive early, park at Church Street, walk through the city hall parking lot and see the exhibition. Refreshments and a complimentary glass of beer will be served during the reception.

At noon the Clydesdales will lead a parade of motorcycles. The races will run from about 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

In addition to this temporary exhibit, the Belknap Mill also features a permanent exhibit on industrial knitting, with working knitting machines from 1865-1945, and a 1918 hydroelectric power plant.

The Belknap Mill is located at 25 Beacon Street East, next to city hall, and adjacent to Rotary Riverside Park and the Winnipesaukee River. The building is air-conditioned and handicapped accessible. For the vintage race, parking is available on Church Street, which runs perpendicular to Beacon Street East. On other days, parking is available along Beacon Street East, in the parking lot shared with city hall, and in the parking garage across the street. Parking is free.
