Abakee Cottages, Laconia Savings BAnk and the Weirs Community Park Association were among the winners of the city's 11th Annual Adopt-A-Spot Awards. Committee members Ann Saltmarsh, Liza Kelleher, Marie Bradley and Phil Rowley noted that 100 participants adopted over 150 barrels, window boxes and other various spots throughout the city this year.
There were also 13 entrees for Landscape Recognition Awards.
Abakee Cottages and Laconia Savings Bank were each cited for the Best of Presentation of Flowers by a commercial enterprise. The Weirs Community Park Association won the same award for a civic enterprise.
The Weirs Action Committee, Garden of Treasurers, the Soda Shoppe and Melnick's Shoe & Athletic Center all were recognized for having the best barrel, window box or planter.
The Landscape Recognition Awards went to the Teichert family, the Sundial Shop and One Mill Plaza, Inc.
All winners were presented with a plaque and a $50 gift certificate.
A plaque was also presented to Garden Artisans in special recognition of the many spots they maintain throughout the city.
