The U.S. Navy Seabee Veterans of America, Lakes Region Island X-4 is sponsoring a trip to Montreal, Quebec this September and is inviting along members of the public who are interested in accompanying them on the trip.
"We no longer have enough members to fill the bus by ourselves, so we appeal to the public to join us," explained Joe Morin, a World War II veteran and a U.S. Navy Seabee.
According to Morin, the Lakes Region Island X-4 is one of only two Islands still active in N.H. The Islands are a veterans group similar to a VFW Post or an American Legion Hall, and the Laconia Island has between 30 and 35 members, four of whom are from Nashua and served in Vietnam or in Korea.
The group recently held its Tenth Anniversary celebration at Alan's Restuarant in Boscawen.
The Montreal trip is planned for September 13 - 15, with the motor coach departing from various points along I-93 from Plymouth to Nashua. While in Montreal the group will be touring Old Montreal, the Olympic Tower and Bio Dome, the Botanical Gardens and other noted landmarks, as well as stopping by the Casino Montreal.
Anyone withing to accompany this delightful group on a tour northward should contact Joe or Pat Morin at 524-3542. Don't delay — seats are limited and they are anxious to reserve as many as possible as soon as possible.
