Visitors to Gilford Beach will be pleasantly surprised by the new design of the driveway entrance. A group of residents has undertaken the task of beautifying the access road with the help of area businesses. A large portion of the project was made possible by a generous donation from Keith Jordan, Race Director of the Timberman Triathalon, who purchased the mulch and topsoil for the project, as well as many of the perennial plantings and planted barrels.
Jordan was very interested in showing his appreciation to the community for its strong support of the Timberman Triathalon, and the Gilford Beach project seemed an ideal way to do something meaningful for the town.
Molly Connelly donated a barrel of flowers, and pH + Plus organic fertilizer was donated by Shelagh Connelly, President of Heart And Soil. Discounts for supplies were offered by Belknap Landscape Company in Gilford for topsoil and mulch, and by Appletree Nursery in Tilton for purchase of the perennial plants.
Sue King, of Parks and Recreation, provided access to a variety of tools needed at the site. Special thanks go to the volunteer workers who donated their time and free labor that made the whole project come together: Mary Jane Kwist, Jill Lieberman, Moira and Caitlin Connelly, Sonya and Christian Workman, Nancy Allen, and Cathy Defregger.
