Wolfeboro Town Clean Up Day draws strong community support

WOLFEBORO — More than 30 volunteers gathered in Wolfeboro on May 2 for the annual Town Clean Up Day, collecting over 100 bags of trash from roadsides and public spaces throughout the community as part of Valley Pride Day.

Hosted by Makers Mill in partnership with the Town of Wolfeboro and generously sponsored by Huggins Hospital, the event brought together residents of all ages for a morning focused on stewardship, connection, and community pride. Volunteers fanned out across town to help clear litter left behind after the winter months, contributing to a cleaner and more welcoming Wolfeboro ahead of the busy summer season.

Makers Mill extends a heartfelt thank you to all of the volunteers who gave their time and energy to support the effort, as well as to the Town of Wolfeboro and Huggins Hospital for helping make the event possible once again this year.

Special recognition also goes to the Makers Mill Sustainability Club, which led this year’s cleanup efforts. The club offers a welcoming space for environmentally-minded community members to connect, share ideas, and explore practical approaches to sustainable living through monthly discussions and hands-on learning opportunities.

“It doesn’t take much for a town to start looking tired after a long winter, and it doesn’t take much to turn that around either,” Robert “Doc” Dougherty, Facilities Manager at Makers Mill and host of the Sustainability Club said. “A few hours, a bunch of good people, and suddenly the whole place feels better. It was great to see so many folks come out and pitch in.”

The Sustainability Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month at Makers Mill, with the next gathering taking place Tuesday, June 9, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Community members ages 16 and up are welcome to attend. Sign up at makersmill.org/events.
