LACONIA — Akwa Marina is hosting the fourth Winnipesaukee Volleyball Classic to benefit NH children with autism through Crotched Mountain Foundation Kids on June 3, 9 a.m., until completion, 8:30 a.m. check-in, at Akwa Marina Yacht Club, 95 Centenary Ave. It is a foundation that seeks out children with autism and other disabilities in our community that need help. All money raised goes directly to the foundation; no money raised is used for the event.

This is one of the more fun days of summer at the beach club, with everyone coming out to enjoy a great day of volleyball. The event will have live music from Henry Lalberte Duo, a barbecue, mimosa toast, a bouncy house, and lawn games.

In order to play, participants have to create a team page with their team name, then go out and try and raise money for their team. Share your team’s page with friends, co-workers, in hopes of raising even more money. No donated money is used to run the event in any fashion.

Each team must have at least four players, having extra players is a good idea.

It is a pool play-style tournament followed by a playoff bracket. The rules will be modified to speed up play. Each round will be the first team to 21 points or 20 minutes, whatever happens first. Each match will have at least a 5-minute break between rounds. The finals will be played to 30 points and on the sand court. Some games will be played on grass on the north and south lawns and beach.

For questions or if companies are interested in being a sponsor beyond just having a team page, call or text Kurt at 603-231-6002 or email Kurt@AkwaMarina.com.

In the event of rain, participants will switch at the last possible moment to a cornhole tournament under the pavilions.
