HOLDERNESS — Voyage across the waves of Squam Lake on the USS Calypso, a tritoon barge, for a boat ride and short hike hosted by Squam Lakes Association on Saturday, Sept. 30, from noon to 3 p.m.
In the midst of Squam’s beauty lies a pattern of islands big and small, which participants will quest through and around before landing on Bowman Island to take a half-mile walk.
See awe-inspiring scenes of the lake and of the island’s ecology, as your LRCC guide gives short lessons on different species of trees. The hike ends with a pirate party of iced tea on the caretaker dock before voyaging back to the SLA headquarters.
