MOULTONBOROUGH — Summer reading starts on June 27 at the Moultonborough Public Library, 4 Holland Road, with the theme, “Oceans of Possibilities.” 

The kickoff event will be led by NH musician Stephen Blunt, who will perform an interactive concert for all ages on June 27, 6 to 7 p.m. on the library grounds. 

Patrons of all ages are invited to sign up for the 2022 Summer Reading Challenge on Beanstack.com. Log how many minutes you read to earn all sorts of prizes. Pre-registration starts June 20. The challenge will go live on June 27 and will continue until Aug. 8. 

Three special family events will celebrate ocean life this summer at the library. On July 6, at 4 p.m., the UNH marine docents will come to present a program on whales and seals. 

On July 7 at 1 p.m. patrons will continue exploring marine life with the Living Shores Aquarium who will present “Sea Animal Movement,” an interactive program that will include a read-along, guided movement and a visit with some of the Living Shores animal residents.

On Aug. 10 at 10:30 a.m., patrons will go “Wild with Turtles!” Registration is required for these free programs.

Tails and Trails at Sutherland Park, finishing with a tale under the trees on June 28, July 12 and Aug. 2 from 1 to 2 p.m. This event is subject to the weather. No registration is necessary.

Teens and tweens summer offerings: a Zentangle workshop on July 13, 3 to 4:45 p.m., and July 28, 6 to 8 p.m., and for college-bound teens, a “Crushing Your College Essays” workshop that will help them get ready for September and the college admissions process. Registration is required for these free programs.

Adults will be making DIY mosquito repellent on July 5 and decorative glass floats on Aug. 2, both from 6 to 7 p.m. Registration and a $5 fee to cover the materials is required for both. 

Mystery Book Club, July 20 and Aug. 17; Culinary Adventures on July 11 and Aug. 8; Thursday Movie Night on July 14 and Aug. 4; the Friends of the Moultonborough Library book discussion on July 13; weekly children’s events: Toddler Playtime on Monday’s 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., PJ Story Time on Tuesdays 6 to 6:30 p.m., Saturday Story Time at 10:30 to 11 a.m. You’ll also find us at Castle in the Clouds on Mondays during the summer, from 11 to 11:30 am.

Annual book sale on Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Preview night on Friday, July 8. Registration and payment is required for this special event.

The library will accept donations of books in good condition until June 30.
