MEREDITH — Heart and Hands Thrift Shop has donated $4,770 to the Rock Steady Boxing program in Laconia for the purchase of a new PRO boxing ring and wall mounted speed punching bag for use in its classes.

Rock Steady is a national program with over 800 affiliates serving more than 50,000 people living with Parkinson’s Disease. This non-contact, boxing-inspired fitness routine can dramatically improve the ability of people with Parkinson’s to live independent lives. The training regimen involves exercise in rhythm, range of motion, core strength and balance.

Located until recently at The Downtown Gym & Wellness Center in Laconia, Rock Steady has moved into its new headquarters and gym at 125 Water St., where the new ring has been erected.

Heart and Hands Thrift shop has been recycling quality used household articles, ephemera and clothing for six years, donating all proceeds to local charities and non-profit organizations contributing to the quality of lakes region life. Operated by the Trinity Episcopal, St. Charles Catholic and the Meredith Congregational churches, H&H accepts grant applications monthly: heartandhandsthriftshop@gmail.com.
