LACONIA — The Evangelical Baptist Church gymnasium on Fremont and Washington streets is serving as a drop-off and collection location for shoeboxes through Nov. 19, as part of Operation Christmas Child.Â
The Laconia community is joining more than 150,000 volunteers across the country in contributing the Operation Christmas Child, the largest Christmas project of its kind. Families, churches, Boy Scouts, and other service groups are contributing to the effort in hopes of collecting enough shoebox gifts to reach 12 million children. The Northern area alone collected more than 7,000 boxes in 2017.
The effort focuses on making a difference in the lives of children facing difficult circumstances, letting them know that they are loved and not forgotten.
The hours of operation will be 4 to 6 p.m. during the week and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
