MOULTONBOROUGH — The Moultonborough Lions Club celebrated its 55th anniversary on Oct. 14 in a very special way. President Peter Allen introduced the visiting District Governor Jerry Vaccaro who presided over the Induction of nine new members. (The club actually has 10 new members but one could not make the meeting and will have to be inducted at a later date.)
DG Jerry spoke about some of the causes the Lions have taken on, such as the environment, roadside cleanup, Operation KidSight, and diabetes. He thanked the club for all that they do and emphasized the importance of increasing membership.
He then called up the nine inductees, along with their sponsors, and presided over a candlelight induction ceremony.
Newly inducted Lions are Susan Price, Bill Hagerup, Susan Burton, Sarah Cotrupi, Chris Milanovich, Stephani Pigott, Diane MacArthur, Mary Phillips, and Joe Adams.
The Lions motto is “We Serve” and the club anticipates that this group will more than meet that challenge.
President Peter recognized all the past presidents attending, along with the many recipients of prestigious Lions Awards. He also gave out some Chevron awards and recognized those with many years of service.
Members voted to give up to $500 for the Meals on Wheels Harvest Supper and $200 a month for three months to Adopt-A-Shelf at the Moultonborough Food Pantry.
A lot was going on during the night, with the 55th anniversary celebration, greeting the District Governor, inducting the nine new members, and recognizing individuals, but do you know what the best part of it all was? Everyone was having fun! That’s what it is all about. You cannot see it, but you sure could feel the “Lions Pride.”
