BRISTOL — A cohort of 17 young men graduated from the Mayhew Program in an outdoor ceremony on Saturday, June 14, attended by family and friends located at the Base House in Bristol.
The journey of each young man through their eight years with Mayhew was shared by their outreach worker who mentored them.
“While each story was different, every young man’s experience embodied our four core values of responsibility, respect, community, and challenge," Executive Director Peter Saliba said. "It was clear to all of us in attendance that our Mayhew graduates are more resilient and more capable as a result of their experience. We are very proud of each of them.”
Mayhew challenges and helps at-risk New Hampshire boys to believe in themselves, work well with others, and find their best. It is the only all-boys program in the state that combines school-year mentoring and a residential summer program for at-risk boys, tuition-free, through high school graduation.
All Mayhew participants benefit from regular mentoring visits in their home communities from Mayhew's team of professional outreach staff in one-on-one and small group settings throughout the year.
