LACONIA — The Opechee Garden Club opens its 2026-27 season with special guest speaker Lisa Hynes, The Edible Garden Coach, presenting "Lean Into Edible Gardening ― Baby Steps to Growing Your Own Food." Doors open at 12:30 p.m. at the Gilford Community Church downstairs on Sept. 14 with light refreshments and conversation. The Opechee Garden Club Monthly Business Meeting will begin sharply at 1 p.m. followed by guest speaker Lisa Hynes.
With more than 25 years of personal and professional gardening experience, Hynes is a Gardenary certified kitchen garden coach who specializes in helping gardeners grow productive, nourishing food at home or at their business. Through her work with The Edible Garden Coach, she helps people discover how manageable and rewarding growing their own food can be.
Hynes' presentation will focus on taking simple, practical steps toward creating an edible garden. Her areas of expertise include vegetables, herbs, fruits and edible flowers, as well as kitchen and herb gardens, native pollinator gardens, seasonal growing, raised beds and containers, and intensive planting using Gardenary methods.
Through consultations, coaching, classes, workshops and kitchen garden design, Hynes encourages gardeners of all experience levels to get started and build confidence one step at a time.
The Opechee Garden Club business meetings are held at the Gilford Community Church, 19 Potter Hill Road, in the lower level of the church. Members and guests are welcome to join for informative and inspiring presentations and workshops as we begin another year of gardening, learning and community betterment activities.
