LACONIA — The Board of Directors for Leadership Lakes Region recently announced the retirement of two instrumental leaders: Founding Board Chair Don Morrissey and Program Coordinator Jennifer McLean.
Their years of dedication and service have been foundational to the success and impact of Leadership Lakes Region, leaving a legacy of leadership and community engagement that will endure for years to come.
As one of the founders of LLR, Morrissey has been a driving force in shaping the vision and mission of the organization. His leadership and unwavering commitment to cultivating informed and engaged leaders have helped transform the Lakes Region into a community empowered by strong civic-minded individuals. His guidance has been essential in fostering the program’s growth and ensuring its sustainability.
In reflecting back on his 29 years with the nonprofit, Morrissey recalled how a dear friend, the late Adrienne Stevens called him one day and recruited him to join "this new non-profit board she was forming called Leadership Lakes Region. Because it was Adrienne asking, I immediately signed on.”
He joined Stevens, Bill Seed, Eliza Leadbeater and others in 1996.
"I am most proud of our 465 alumni whose names read like a who's who of Lakes Region volunteerism." Morrissey said.
Since joining LLR, McLean has played a crucial role in the program’s success, coordinating educational sessions, building meaningful connections, and inspiring countless participants. Her dedication to supporting emerging leaders has left an indelible mark on the organization and the greater Lakes Region community.
“The knowledge, experiences and friendships that I have gained through my years with LLR are invaluable. It has truly been an honor to be part of this organization,” said McLean.
